So after a rather long and quite disturbing drive, which you can read about soon, we finally found the Childrens Home, Ciudad de los Ninos Malaga.
When we got there someone else was already there waiting also to donate items.
We met a lovely guy who worked there and took all our stuff. He said that there are around 50 children mainly boys and from 9 years upwards. There are a few children from 2 years to 9 years too. They are all there for different reasons and they also have alot of immigrants to look after too.
We asked what else they needed and its funny what the things that they really need what we all take for advantage.
What they need is
Oil, Pate, Jars / Tins of things that dont go off.
Shower gels, shampoo, conditioner, brushes and combes for the kids.
Shaving gel / foam for the older boys who have to start shaving.
How to get there....
Its NOT signposted at all.
Its in an area called Campanillas. If you find the Large Church and Cemetary then you are very very close. If you are at the roundabout with the cemetary behind you turn left and then left again up the dirt track / narrow road. As you drive up you should see a play area on the left. Continue up and you come to a proper red brick building. This is it!
If you continued along the road (not turning left up the narrow road) you would then come to the Gypsy Site with a big sign saying "Bienvenido Asperones" - This IS NOT it.
Anything that the Childrens Home doesnt use they give to the church which then sometimes sell the items at fairs and donate money elsewhere. I pretty sure the guy said Africa.
If you wish to donate any of the above to the Childrens home in Malaga, but cant get there, Keith at Currencies Direct in Nueva Andalucia has said that you can leave stuff at his office and he will take the items there too. His office is on the roundabout by Tapelia.
