Short Breaks Puerto Banus

This time of year, many people fancy a short break somewhere. The problem comes when a short break can end up being the same price a weeks holiday. Puerto Banus is good for a long weekend break but....it can cost a lot unless you are prepared to use public transport or hire a car, (or unless you have a good friend to come pick you up).

Flights

Flights are not cheap anymore but they can be if you dont mind where you sit and come hand luggage only. So thats the first way to keep price down. Really check out all the airlines. I found a flight for a friend of mine last night for just 46 pounds with Thomsonfly tomorrow from Malaga back to Gatwick. Everyone else (Monarch, Easyjet) wanted well over 100€uros some even 200€uros.

Accommodation

If you are coming away in the winter months, the weather cant be guaranteed. It could be nice, it could be pouring with rain. There are some cheaper hotels in Puerto Banus but apartments can sometimes work out cheaper. Personally if you are coming away in the winter, we definately think an apartment is better rather than be stuck to a hotel room.

Transport

When you have chosen your accommodation you need to think how you are going to get around. If you are in walking distance to Puerto Banus and thats all you want to do then fine. But if its a little further and the weather isnt that great theres only so much of Puerto Banus anyone can take. The cheapest way is to wait for the Direct Airport Bus from Malaga Airport. at 4.26€uros thats cheap! Then you would need to catch another bus to Puerto Banus. If you get a taxi, a taxi each way could end up costing more than your flights! At minimum 80€uros each way, thats quite a lot when you only wanted short break away. Car Hire is cheap here. Its as little as 43€uros from a Thursday to a Monday in December. Thats great value and you are free to go wherever you want. You can get a quote here.

Things to Do

I know of people who come here, clubbing, drinking etc who go out to expensive places in London. They find it really expensive here (and if they do - then it is). Drinks are expensive. In some of the clubs expect to pay 25euros maybe. I dont go out at night here but on the couple of special occassions that I have a round of drinks can be 100€uros for 4 of you. Its stupid money. If you are lucky that you are not on a budget the great. If you are on a budget then check the prices in the bars first. Restaurants - becareful when choosing seafood that doesnt have a price - some friends once ended up paying a bomb for a meal. Good value restaurant in Puerto Banus - Picassos.
