I havent had a rant about bad service for a while, so here goes.
I popped to La Canada to get my daughter a few bits for holiday. Went to Zara. First I asked this girl who worked there, very nicely in Spanish, do you have this is a 5-6. Her face was as if I had completely insulted her. Even my daughter who is 5 years old - said shes not very happy mummy. If you dont like the public dont work with them.
After a few minutes she came back and said "no hay señora". Vale!
Then im in the changing room. I have a pair of jeans age 4-5 and a pair 5-6. The 5-6 waistband was very loose - felt like the elastic had gone a little. The 4-5 was better but too short. So I asked very politely if she had another 5-6.
"What size is that"? shes asks me. I said 5-6. "Well why do you want another one"?
Because I want to see if maybe this elastic is broken as its very big for this size.
She refused and said they are all the same - its not going to be any different.
mmm thats great service for you.
I wonder what the owner of Zara would think about some of his staff being so rude - and this isnt the first time. I really wish I could boycott Zara as she really pissed me off...but some of the clothes are just so cute.
When a 5 year old notices that a member of staff is rude - then they are rude.

Oh Jo I feel your pain, the same happened to me in Gibraltar with a Spanish employee. It is really shocking in today´s climate and not just that it is the year 2009 please train your staff to treat people in a civilised fashion. We will boycott your shops!
Hi Jo - I hear you!
I was in Zara a few days ago and one of the staff girls was restocking a rail in the childrens section. I began looking on the rail for some shorts for my 9 year old and she literally physically pushed me aside with a face like thunder! Incredible!
Our 'retail and service' expectations have dropped dramatically since we moved to this area, but many staff out here are quite often amazingly rude, and this experience at Zara plumbed new depths.
In London, Zara would not get away with employing this incredilbly low level of staff, so with so many international customers shopping at La Canada, I think they should maintain the same standards there.
I simply believe there is no excuse for rudeness anywhere in the service industry, and Zara are just one company in the Costa del Sol who really should take note...
Train and maintain your staff - they represent your company and brand!
