Over 50s Show Estepona - Palacio de Congresso

Over 50s Show Saturday 28th & Sunday 29th November - Palacio De Congresso Estepona.

Their Press Release

AMBITIOUS PLANS FOR THIS YEAR’S OVER 50’s SHOW

Following the huge successes of the 2007 and 2008 events, this year’s Over 50s Show, the lifestyle event for the Coast’s seniors, will according to the organisers, be the ‘biggest, best and most feature-packed yet’.

The event will again by held at the Palaccio de Congresos, Estepona on the last weekend of November (Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th) and will again be the ‘ultimate showcase’ for the region’s older people, with all the proven attractions as well as many new elements.

One of the new attractions will be the ‘active investment zone’ where visitors will be able to get impartial advice from experts on a plethora of investment opportunities.

And following requests from numerous visitors last year, there will also be a dedicated homes and gardens section. And plans are also in hand for an extensive involvement from Dunnes Stores., as well as a fashion show.

There will also be a programme of cookery demonstrations by some of the Coast’s top chefs. And outside an area will be earmarked for a farmers market.

Many of the free attractions from the first two shows will again be in the mix, including computer and Internet tuition, golf lessons from PGA professionals, pets advice, an art exhibition, consumer and legal advice, guidance on cosmetic procedures, health checks – including diabetes, cholesterol and blood pressure monitoring. .

The Over 50s Show is described by the organisers as ‘the ultimate lifestyle event for the Coast seniors, which is entertaining, informative and educational’. Once again, admission and car-parking is free, as well as all presentations and tests. They also add that the event offers the over-50s ‘a one-stop shop’ to get information on their physical and financial health as well as enjoy many of their interests and hobbies, not to mention an excellent opportunity to meet-up with their peers from all over the Coast and beyond.

Health and well-being
Health and well being will be a key element of the event based on the well-proven premise that exercise, sensible diet, and regular, routine monitoring slows down the age process.
Visitors can have their cholesterol measured, as well as availing of blood pressure and blood glucose tests; spine monitoring and bone density screening will also be available, backed by information on treating arthritic joints and knee pain. And there will also be the opportunity of joining in yoga and aerobic classes. Data on dieting and maintaining a healthy weight will be included, not to mention the latest trends in ‘aquacise’ (exercising in water to you). And for those trying to stop smoking, help and assistance will be on hand by a successfully acknowledged therapist, who will also be dispensing advise on sensible eating and cooking and how to overcome weight-inducing ‘comfort eating’.

The inaugural Over 50s Show attracted over 70 exhibitors, last year’s it had over 80 exhibitors, and the organisers say they are on target for 100 exhibitors this year.
