Im sick of schools if Im going to be honest. Theres no perfect school here. People tell you oh this school is wonderful, fantastic, brilliant, but you know Private Schools here are business.
Not too sure why but the last week or so schools have come up once again in conversation. I think cause friends who have kids around the age of 9 and 10 have to start thinking of secondary school. And...when they start talking about changing from English to Spanish and or from Private to State, or even State to Private...well it gets you thinking.
EIC, English International College has come up in so many conversations lately - how fantastic, amazing, brilliant school. Im sure it is. They advertise all their students getting into to Oxford and Cambridge. But to be thinking of this when your child is 5 years old....its just ridiculous.
Also, Ive never known so many children at such a young age to be getting private education after school. They are at school from 9 till 4 and it cost anything from 6,000 to 15,000€uros a year ...surely this should be enough. Surely the school should be taking more responsibility over kids education - but then its great for the teachers that then go on to earn 45euros per hour after school.
Then on top of that all the extra curriculum activities, its not long before you are up to 1,000k per month for when they are 6 or 7 years old.
I have bad PMT at the moment so maybe take no notice of this post. But have to say, to have no choice about which school would be so much easier. For example, my daughters 2 cousins both went to their local school within their catchment areas.....so much easier.
So what are the Best Schools in Marbella?
Well I suggest you go see them for yourselves and see how you feel. Try to find ex pupils too - these are the best people to talk to.

Hi Jo,
You are right no school is perfect but we have 3 at the EIC and the A'level results are so good, the teachers make a point of knowing all the children and the director and head are always at the school gate at 4pm. We had a problem with bullying and as soon as we told the school about it, it was dealt with that day and one of the boys was suspended. They have been 100% supportive. After school activities by the teachers are free and they change each term, art clubs, singing, percussion. We were previously at Swans primary and it was a fantastic bilingual experience but too authoratarian if you have children that are quiet and well behaved and the secondary school has I have heard done very badly with their GSCEs. Suggest anyone thinking of going to one of the International schools DOES start with the secondary school examination results as what is the point of going to a school that is not performing? It isn't just about exam results but that has to be the starting point....Aloha also seems to do very well with its IB results year after year.
