Terrasana Golden Mile Marbella - Casual Funky Place to Eat in Marbella
We had plans to go out with some friends last night and I wanted somewhere with nice food, and a relaxed chilled atmosphere with music.
We went to Terrasana on the Golden Mile in Marbella. They had live music on Friday & Saturday this weekend. Although when I called them on Thursday to ask if there was live music - I was told NO only on Saturdays.
Anyway, we met there around 9ish. Staff were very nice - quite eager to get the order in but we were far to busy chatting. But they did offer a same of the Rosè before ordering - which went down very well.
The live music was to start at 9.30pm, well it was actually about 10.30pm of course! She was a good singer playing some really recent songs - Tabata I think was her name. It was nice listening to live music as there arent many places that do have it here.
For starters we had the 2 mixed plates of hummus, gaucomole, tortillas and on the other a mixture of Falafel & hummus - both very nice. 4 main courses of pizza, salad, tandori prawn dish and tandorri chicken, 1 dessert of delicious sticky toffee pudding and a lot of drinks.
The bill came to 124€uros which I thought was actually quite good value as we had sat there for nearly 4 hours too and certainly didnt go short of drinks.
It was also very nice to be offered drinks on the house (for some reason) so that was another 4 baileys all round.
I very nice evening with lovely people, good food and nice atmosphere. Will definately go back again.
So if you are looking for a place, chilled, casual, informal, little bit funky, then Terrasana on the Golden Mile opposite Lidl would be a good choice.

Cash Point Scam Centro Plaza Nueva Andalucia
Card was put in but wouldnt work. Someone behind advised about a telephone number to call - then asked to insert pin etc etc etc. Card was cloned, all happened very quickly and money was taken out.
My Advice - try and only use cash points when the bank is open.
Watch around you and if anyone talks to you at all whilst you are at the machine - instantly think SCAM.

Hi, I'm Alethea Borgman and I write for DigitalJournal.com, an online news network featuring news from across the world.
I am putting together an article about "British ex-pats returning to the UK." If anyone is interested, there are just three questions below which will cover the information needed.
I would be most grateful if you could email your answers to me and your agreement for the infomation to be used: aletheaborgman@gmail.com with your contact information so that Digital Journal Staff can verify if required.
1. Provide a brief outline of your life to date in Spain. Eg; When you moved out, your working life, family life, overcoming language/red tape etc.
2. What has been the key factor in determining your decision to move back to the UK? Eg; Job loss, almost parity in the euro/pound, home-sick, high cost of living, etc
3. What difficulties do you envisage when you move back to the UK? Eg; Changes in social and politcal landscape, finding work, re-establishing relationships with friends and family, your children adapting to a new school, etc
4. Anything else you wish to add! Pictures would also be great! I will confirm, on receipt of your story, when the article is likely to go ahead.

People not paying their service charge in Spain
Some people that dont pay, live in their apartments, some are empty and some are being rented to holiday makers. They all get use of the pools, garages, lifts and use of the security guard yet they are not paying for it. mmmmm doesnt really sound fair does it?
Do you have problems like this in your developement?
What do you do with people that dont pay. Can you really stop them or their tenants using the pools?

Dutch Schools in Marbella?
Kind regards I
Hi I
Thank you for your email. Well there are a number of options, Im sure at that age they will learn quickly.
Private Schools in Marbella Swans - mainly english but spanish curriculum taught too.
EIC - English Private - The most english school in Marbella probably.
Laude - san pedro - International school English Curriculum and Spanish same as swans.
Then there is the German School, website here http://www.deutsche-schule-malaga.com/html_es/index.html
Also a swedish school and finnish school although finnish school is in Fuengirola I think There are also spanish private & state, It really depends on you.
If you can afford private then maybe Swans EiC or Laude will be the best for them. However I do know children that are thrown into the Spanish state system and within 1 year they are bilingual.....but it can be really tough to start - imagine it being you. Prob best to read up on all of them. Come see them and you will feel in your heart which one is the best for your children.
It would be great to hear how you get on
Regards Joanne

Omni Gal Marbella - Pure Heart Frequency
She explained what she did - it was all about energy flowing through the body, massage, phsycology, but to be honest Im not too sure I beleive in all that, although I do definately beleive in Massage.
So one Friday I leave my house to go to her practice in San Pedro Alcantara. I was a little nervous as I just didnt know what to expect or what she was going to do to me.
She was very welcoming and had a lovely calm aura. After chit chatting she told me to sit on the bed. She sat at the end facing me. She then told me that she will close her eyes and try and feel the energy from me. I started to get my nervous giggle and she was lovely and said you just relax and keep your eyes closed or open, up to you. I found myself like a little kid, keep peeping to see whats happening.
After a few minutes she opened her eyes and told me about myself. Most of the things she said were on target, although some of it is pretty typical stuff that applies to many people especially working mums.
Then she decided that she was going to do a kind of massage. Started on my back then on the front and worked on some really painful points which were my pressure points where she said I hold my stress.
She made me aware of certain things I do whilst she massaged me which is a trait of my character.
By the end of the massage my body felt so heavy, I was in a complete relaxation state, which I can only ever get at the end of a yoga session. It was fantastic and I felt so relaxed. When I went to the office afterwards my husband said I looked very different and spaced out (in a good way)
At the end of the session she told me a few more things about myself and how I could work on them to improve.
You know, many of these things relate to everyone and some of the things she said - my husband has already told me, but sometimes its good to hear things from a complete stranger. It reinforces everything.
You are who you are, you cant change everything, but I think its possible to improve but you do need reminding every so often.
An interesting and good experience.
Omni says she can help many people with many different ailments and illnesses.

Choosing Schools in Marbella
Having been through this situation myself and learnt quite a few lessons, my main tip is keep pushing for the school you want. People may tell you its full, but unless you hear it direct from the horses mouth, take no notice. Especially when it comes to certain private schools people can be quite sneeky beleive it or not.
I was told that the school I wanted was full, they had already chosen all the children for that year and there was no way my daughter was going to get in - no point even going to see it! Did I listen to that? No. I went to see the school, was told it was full, but at the last minute a space came up!
You then hear all the stories of paying to get in and getting the kids in through the back door, even doing a bit of schmoozing up to the school owners - none of which is my cup of tea, but you do get them here and everywhere.
My friends were told there was no space for the state school right opposite them. But were very dissapointed and unhappy but at the last minute a space came up.
At the moment, Im pretty sure you can have your pick of any private school as more and more children are leaving to go to state or back to the UK.
But if its not the case - keep pushing!
Driving through San Pedro
I drove on Sunday, so it was quiet but, just for those who dont know, at the moment, driving from Marbella to Estepona, the road is more or less the same.
The road is closed the other direction from Guadalmina - just before San Jose School. All the traffic is being pushed down thorugh San Pedro Alcantara.

Safe Deposit Boxes in Puerto Banus Marbella
I know you're probably sick of me asking questions by now and sorry to be a pain but do you know if there are any sort of, "safe deposit box" places in Puerto Banus or Nueva Andalucia? I've just discovered there's no safe at the place we're going to...
Kind regards
p.s. I've put your blog at the top of the blogroll on my blog
http://commonbloodysense.blogspot.com/
Hi

If anyone knows please email in - Thanks
Jamie Oliver Podcasts
But since we moved we have stayed strong and still not got sky tv. Its weird and sometimes very hard and am not sayiing i wont get it in the future, but for the moment its ok.
My husband bought this thing "Apple TV" and can down load Film (legally)!!! and podcasts and other stuff ,some things are free.
He downloaded me Jamie Oliver Ministry of Food.....well I have to tell you its fantastic. So fantastic that I cant wait to cook tonight - sounds mad hey?
Being a mum, looking after the house and working, cooking in the evening is most of the time a chore. But this week ive really looked forward to it.
He has some fantastic recipes, films are about 8 minutes long and its so easy watching him do it himself.
The other night I made this Parmesan Chicken Dish - came out great.
Last night I did Sizzling Beef. I got all my ingrediants from Supersol - which at the moment I quite like - ginger, basmati rice, peppers, noodles, chilli, black bean sauce etc etc.
Ive never made a good stirfry and this was fantastic. The beef I bought from Supersol on the Golden Mile was superb too and very very tasty.
Tonight Im going to do similar again with noodles rather than rice....otherwise you find you waste alot of ingrediants.
Next week Chicken Chow Mein & Fabulous Fish Pie!
Hes also downloaded Yoga for me too.
Im a convert to Apple.
Law in Spain - Kids sitting in front of Car
However, yesterday I was chatting to policeman and asked him.
The answer was children under 12 years old cannot sit in the front.
I have seen allsorts, young kids in front and backs of cars with not child seat, kids hanging out the front windows, standing up in convertables while the mum does 100 miles per hour and one of the most annoying things is parents wearing seat belts whilst their children are free jumping around in the back seats.
I wouldnt mind, but the N340 is one of the most dangerous roads to drive on and the drivers on it arent exactly the best drivers in the world.
I have never seen so many wreaths and posters on the side of roads as I have seen here.

Recession in Marbella - Returning to UK
Things are tough here, especially if you were in Estate Agency Sales as there arent many Estate Agents left. Whatever happened to the Ocean Estates Days - if they didnt spend so much money on flash cars and luxurious parties they may still be here today. Everywhere I used to drive I used to see McAnthony boards everywhere, I dont know the last time I saw one.
But Im writing this for anyone out there finding it tough. You have some people that talk about it and are open, and you have some that dont and pretend all is fantastic and hunkey dorey.
But I know that there are people struggling here, making cutbacks and the first to normally go are private healthcare & private education.
If you have recently taken your child from Private School to State School, it would be great to hear what your experience has been like and more importantly how your child coped.
If you are in this situation, here and alone, talk to your friends. Its hard with no family. If you talk about it to yoru friends, you just never know - someone may be able to help out.
Heres an article from The Times about the latest people leaving Spain to go back to the UK

Womens Health Clinics Marbella - English Speaking
I was very interested to read about your breast lump as female health issues are close to my heart can you publish info on your sight with regard to smear tests. In my area it is very difficult to find a g.p. who speaks excellent english, I am more than prepared to travel up to Estepona/Marbella but I dont know how to find an english speaking doctor who I can pay privately for a consultation for smears and info on the menopause. I dont want to pay every month for private health but am more than happy to pay as I use, please help if you have any suggestions. I'm sure there must be many other women in my situation.
L
Hi L, Well I go to Dr Benito in Marbella . i saw him when I was pregnant and just went to him for my breast lump. There is the english medical centre in San Pedro Alcantara with a whole range of doctors that would be able to help. Also in Marbella for women over a certain age they do free mammograms, heres some more info. http://nuevaandalucia.blogspot.com/2008/11/mammograms-in-marbella-eco-mama-in.html

Mercadona Los Naranjos
I drove around a while back and couldnt see anything and couldnt beleive that I couldnt find where this Mercadona is.
Anyway, yesterday we finally found it. Its right inside the developement where there are locals too.
Its not open yet, but opening soon
Its great for the Dame De Noche Developement and Los Naranjos to have a supermarket so close.
Im not entirely sure about entering Mercadona by car....the main road isnt really a main road and going to make the area really busy. The roads arent wide enough as it is with just the residents so cant imagine everyone going through there to go to Mercadona.

Aquarium in Puerto Banus
It has got to that time of year when I start looking forward to our annual fortnight in my mate’s apartment at La Maestranza.
As our lad gets older we look to do new things with him rather than just going down to the pool every day, as nice as that can be.
Mooching round the web at places to take him and I came across something about an Aquarium in the port?
Nothing specific other than it’s by the control tower?
What can you tell me about it, is it worth a visit or is it a 30 second wonder with nothing more than goldfish?
Also are there any other attractions within 45-60 minute drive that would suit a lively 5yr old little boy?
Like Selwo (?) Park or others that would be ideal for a day or half day outing, without being obscenely priced.
Took him on the ferry to Marbella and got the catamaran back which he loved.
As usual, log on every now and again to see what you have going on in your blog.
I
Hi I
Sorry for the delay I know nothing about this aquarium in Puerto Banus. There may have been one years ago, then someone may have been writing a page about puerto banus, put it in and then there you go .... everyones asking about this aquarium.
Selwo Estepona is briliant. Not particularly cheap but can spend all day there. Great fun going up in the trucks and walking down the rope bridges. Take pack lunch to save a bit of money, loads of places to sit and eat. If you get fed up with the sun, Kids Kingdom in Cancelada is fantastic...massive indoor ball park. Right next to Supersol. Selwo Marina Benalmadena - is good but if you miss the shows theres not much else to do. But opposite is a beautiful park called Paloma Park with loads of slides and animals etc and beautiful lake. Park in La Quinta is still there, just near la quinta golf hotel. So theres a few things. If you find anything else I havent mentioned, do let me know

Moving from Nueva Andalucia to Sierra Blanca Country Club, Swiss Made Homes
My husband and I have been living in Spain now for more than 6 years and started out in Nueva Andalucia. We love Spain, the great weather and of course the international environment of Marbella. Both our children were born here, and I think Spain is fantastic for families. Children are here welcome everywhere, we have fantastic day cares, schools and international medical care. For the children it is great to have the opportunity growing up with several different languages, and they learn it just like that not even realizing that it is anything special. My daughter is now 5 years old and speaks already 4 languages.3 years ago we moved to the Urb. Sierra Blanca Country Club on the Istán road. The urbanisation is only 5 minutes up the road from Manolo Santanas Raquets Club but a completely different area to Nueva Andalucia. Manolo Santana Raquets Club is a great place for sports; our daughter has been taking swimming classes there. They offer a variety of courses for both children and adults (yoga, Pilates, tennis,…) The urbanisation is very quiet, we are in the middle of nature and yet very close to Puerto Banús, Nueva Andalucia and Marbella, where we have all the shops. The views from up here are fantastic; we look over the lake of Istán, the Mediterranean Sea up to the coast of Africa. I love the views, especially at night when you see the lights on the African coats and the most amazing for me is seeing the light of the African light house going on and off. The weather up here is also different than in Nueva Andalucia due to the micro climate of the mountains. During the summer time here and also in Marbella Sierra Blanca we have usually 2 - 3 degrees less than in Nueva Andalucia, and during the winter time we have 2 – 3 degrees more.

Our house is not only a house but our home. The urbanisation in which we live now, and with it our home was developed by the real estate agent and project developer Swiss Made Homes who is a specialist for properties in Sierra Blanca Country Club and Marbella Sierra Blanca. During my past 6 years here on the coast I have been involved in the property market. The market of course has changed during the last months, and now is the time to buy as the prices have dropped and this is now a “buyers market”. If you are looking for a property consider Sierra Blanca Country Club and Marbella Sierra Blanca.

It made up for the few mistakes that were made on my daughters & husbands meal. So many mistakes!!!
We then took a stroll to see whats happening with Blue Shopping Centre in Sotogrande.
Well since the last time - not much. About 4 shops have their names up on the outside, but thats it.
I really really hope it works as its going to be such a great place to go shopping if the right shops go in there. It reminds me so much of Australia.

MC Cafe Marbella - Marbella Club Hotel MC Cafe

Marbella Club Hotel is a beautiful hotel, the original hotel of Marbella. Lately many of the shops along it have closed making it look a little sad.
We sat outside. It was a little noisy as you hear cars from the Main Road and also many cars in and out of the hotel. The location of the MC Cafe isnt the best.
However, service from the start was good. Menu was great, something for everyone. Burgers, salads, rice, meat, fish & chips, chicken.
Prices for starters ranged from 7 to about 15€uros. Main Courses were from about 12€ to 25€
Desserts from about 7 to 12€uros.
I took the menu del dia. 2 Courses for 22€uros (I think) or 3 Courses from 24.50€ (mas o menos)
To start I had raviolli with tomato and basil sauce - it was AMAZING.
For main I had Fish Cakes and Chunky Chips - I did look at the portion and think wheres the rest (but my eyes are always bigger than my stomach). Fish Cakes were top draw. Very very tasty and chips too.
My husband had the Cheese Burger which was delicious too.
For dessert I icecream with strawberries and praline - it was the most delicious dessert I have had in a long time. Because the Menu Del Dia was just 1 choice - it was great trying things I wouldnt normally eat.
My husband had 1 glass of Champagne and very large bottle of water.
The price for 3 course menu del dia, 1 main course, 2 drinks was 60€uros. Now, many of you know I dont like over priced restaurants, but I have to say, that every single bit of food was tasty. The dessert was amazing. And more importantly the service was brilliant. I didnt want for anything.
I would definately recommend this restaurant as a nice place for lunch. More of a lunch place then evening.
It would be fantastic if the MC Cafe got moved to the beach!
Please note that I pay for all my meals, therefore this is my true feeling of it.
