Il Ristorante La Campana Nueva Andalucia

On Friday we went for our weekley Menu Del Dia until our friends finally leave Spain for the UK.

Last week we went to Chateau Briand, which was very good and very very cheap. This week we tried Il Ristorante which was where Chateau Briand used to be.

Much more modern and lighter than Chateau Briand. Menu del Dia more expensive at 15€ not including drinks, however the food that day was a different league.

To start I had Veal with a Tuna Sauce - very nice, others had prawn salads where they had been very generous with the prawns.

For main course I had slow cooked beef (good size portion) with 2 slices of potatoes (little mean) but absolutely delicious! Others had chicken breast on risotto and also John Dorey which was all delicious too.

For deserts was blueberry cake, mouse, cheese etc....all very nice - no complaints at all.

Drinks were on top and the final bill for 4 adults 3 courses was 77€uros. Now quite alot more expensive than Chateau Briant 44€ but for the quality of food that we had it was really good value.

Both restaurants very good and will definately be back for Menu Del Dias!

Today I took my husband for lunch at Il Ristorante. I have to say I was really surprised that I only phoned yesterday to reserve a table for today. In the past I have phone 3 days before and they have been fully booked.

On arrival we were given some delicious bread with olive oil. It was like cake. There were about 4 or 5 starters, main courses and desserts to choose from.

For starters, (we share everything) we had sea bream with potato salad and rabbit liver with salad. Both starters were beautifully presented and the taste was amazing. the warm potato salad was so moorish. The rabbit liver which i have never eaten before was delicious.

For mains we had shoulder of veal and also a guinea fowl with risotto. Both dishes once again full of flavor and beautifully cooked.

Desserts seriously were the icing on the cake...cherry cake with ice cream...scrummy and then a very rich and delicious chocolate mouse.

If I say you are going to "menu del dia" then you may be disspointed at the price as its not "menu del dia" prices, but you won't be disappointed at the food.

The prices have gone up. It used to be 15 euros for 3 courses and 12 if you had pasta. Now its 20euros for 3 courses plus drinks. So for 2 of us with 1 beer and 1 water it came to 49euros. Which for a MDD sounds expensive...but the food is to draw food. Its like fine dining and don't expect to be in and out in 30 minutes. We were there a good hour and half.

The kitchen is absolutely spotless and the service was very good.

Cannot complain!
