In the new year Ive got the horrible job of renewing our residencia.
The whole thing is a joke as I Hired a Gestoria to help us get it...it took a year and a half before we went to the police station to queue up for no less than 4 hours. Ive never seen anything like it.
Then its only valid for 5 years.
So 3 and a half years later Im going to have to renew it and hand in my lovely little card and change it for a horrible big piece of paper.
Why did they change it?
So question....what are the implications of not renewing it and keeping my nice little card?
I also have to get an NIE Number for my daughter age 6...(as told by the bank).
Not looking forward to doing this at all.

It's not that bad. If you go properly prepared with papers in hand, know where the closest bank is (150 yards down the street) and get there at a reasonable hour then you should be done quite quickly. Just make sure that you photocopy everything (including passport front and back). I renewed mine earlier this year, was there at 8am and at work before 10:30.

Finally did it today....I cannot believe how much it has changed! 830 arrived and out at 945.
