Today I got a call from my husband saying...Im popping home for lunch...could do with a break, Ill eat my soup at home.

My Brocolli Soup
I try and make all my own soups and people always look at me thinking wow...
well its the quickest and easist thing in the world.
Butter in a saucepan, add some onions quartered / chopped however.
Add brocolli, just cover the brocolli slight with boiling water. Salt Pepper
Once all soft and greeny, use food processor to mix up. Add bit of creme fraiche or not.
Last week I bought the green mould cheese in a triangle from Mercadona about 60 cents, crumbled it over and he said it was absolutely delicious.
My daugher loves soup and has it practically every night...such a great way for them to eat veg...although I certainly dont have a problem with my daughter as she eats everything and could eat all day long.

My Roasted Veg on Winters Night
I go through phases with my cooking and sometimes just cant think of what to make so I cook the same thing every night.
My latest thing is roasted veg...
Cut up, Potatoes, Sweet Potatoes, Butternut Squash, Onions, Carrots, Mushrooms plus whatever else you like, stick in a plastic bag with olive oil, sal pepper a few cloves of garlic.
Stick in fridge for a while.
Then brown off in a saucepan and stick in oven about 220 till roasted about 1 hour. Absolutely delicious!
Make lots as it is very tasty and goes down extremely well.

IBI Bill 3 Intento Buzon - I received an IBI bill in December!
Ok, so it seems you need an ology to understand bills here.
I along with I think many other people have received a Bill from the Government saying on the front Notificacion Informatizada. 3 Intento Buzon
Inside it says IBI Urbana Inmuebles.
OK I have just learnt from our President what its all about. In the summer you have lots of IBI bills, these are your Council Tax Bills.
As there are so many you need to be sure that if you are on Direct Debit, your account has sufficient funds.
In our case...I have just checked all our bank details and whilst they tried to take the money out, it got put back in....so as far as I can see....they tried ONCE!!! to take this money out.
They are saying they have tried twice and now this is the third time sending me the bill.
So its already gone up by 10% and have till 7th december to pay it.
If you dont pay it by the date...it continues to go UP!!!

New Pavements around Nueva Andalucia
Good to see that around Nueva Andalucia is getting a bit of attention. New Pavement in the road just opposite Centro Plaza...makes the area look so much better.
Airconditioning Nueva Andalucia Airconditioning Sensors & Meters
If like us your Property is coming up to 10 years you may be finding that everything seems to be falling apart at the same time.
Our airconditioning system is completely broken and our poor neighbours have been complaining for quite a while about the noise of the exterior units. But with bookings for holidays we just couldnt do anything. Now its quiet with no bookings, Im trying to sort out all the problems...the aircon, the tiles that seem to be coming of the walls, the small bits of damp appearing everywhere and cupboards that are broken.
Over the past few weeks I have spoken to numerous air conditioning companies and it seems that there are a couple of solutions for high usage of air conditioning by yoru holiday makers who walk into your apartment and turn the air con on and leave it on until they leave a week or two later.
Firstly there are Meters. Meters could be connected just to the Air Con system or your whole electricity until. Whilst many people have said to me that people dont like renting property properties where they have to pay for the electric...actually I rented a cottage in Cornwall last year and had to pay for electric....didnt bother me. Infact it makes you appreciate it.
Secondly there are Airconditioning Sensors. These can be fitted and set to the time your require. So if there has been no movement in the room for 20, 30 or 60 minutes, the units automatically cut off.
Now, I dont know anyone personally that has had these fitted...but if they work...they really should cut down your bills.
Thirdly I am now looking at Airconditioning Units that are Invertors. Apparentely this in time will save you up to 30% off your bills. They are more expensive that normal units, but I over a ten year period which is what I am giving the units, that seems enough time to save money overall.
3 companies that have given me quotes, turned up on time and come back to me with a quote either the same or next day are...

New Shops Along Marbella High Street
Driving through Marbella today theres a number of shops that have opened up...maybe just to make the most out of Christmas. From Nueva Andalucia Direction to Marbella on the left hand side a new "Toy Factory" shop has opened. Further down the road passed the Horse & Carts there is a new Party Shop selling everything you need for a party.
Around the Old Town there are some really gorgeous little shops specialising in Soaps & Olive Oils so if you are looking for a Special kind of present...maybe have a wander around there.

Revisión Parque de las Ciencas

Had a great weekend this weekend thanks to the guys at Eye on Spain for letting us know about Parque de Las Ciencas - Science Park Granada.
We left Saturday Morning and was there within a couple of hours...well maybe a little more as our companions decided to stop for breakfast at the services in Benalmadena.
For anyone that has been to the Parque de las Ciencias in the past...it has now been renovated and is quite alot bigger and better.
Saturday we took the tour bus around Granada, the bus is great as you get to see the city quickly and can then go back and investigate areas later. We ate, ate and ate some more...it did feel we were ordering food for the most part of Saturday. Have to say the food we had was very very good.
Sunday we arrived at the Parque de las Ciencias at 10am....parking outside or downstairs...keep your ticket and you get first 3 hours for 1 €uro. On paying your tickets you need to decide if you wish to go into the Planetarium...you pay a little extra 2.50€ and given a time.
The Park is huge and very impressive. Lots of different parts to it...and definately something for everyone. I think the favourite sections was the Human Body and the Animals (taxidermist). The Kids loved it.
The Planetarium is about half an hour....it was in Spanish and whilst it was absolutely amazing and relaxing....husband did have a bit of a kip in there....I didnt actually understand much of what was being said. However everything else was in English & Spanish.
There is a great little area for kids between 3 and 7, lots of things for the kids to play with outside too. We saved the animals until last and have to say this was the most incredible thing I and I think the majority of us have ever seen. They were real and upstairs you could see the taxidermist working. The way these animals were put together was incredible..it was a work of art.....photos coming soon.
The whole experience was brilliant and whilst could have done with a few more hours....from 10 till 3 was enough time walking around. You could definately go there over 2 days.
For 2 adults and 1 child price including tickets for plantearium was just 25€ very cheap we thought.

Bio Sculpture Marbella - Review of Bio Sculpture - Marbella Mobile Beauty
Quick Update: My natural nails are normally very short and weak. After Bio Sculpture there has been a massive change in my nails. I had a manicure done on Monday and my nails today still look and feel great. I think my nails today are the longest I have had in years. Very positive!
I have heard of Bio Sculpture for a while and its often advertised with lots of positives but never had it done...until now. I have heard good and bad things about this from people who have had it done..so what better way to find out the truth than to test it myself.
How its done...
Joanna first starts by preparing my natural nails. Removing old varnish, filing, cleaning, pushing back cuticles etc.
| My Natural Nails |
Nails once filed and shaped...already looking 100% better.
![]() |
| UV Lamp |
After the clear gel, Joanna starts with the Coloured Gel...I chose this gorgeous Red. Its painted on with a brush very carefully going right up close to the nail bed. If this isnt done properly...this is why your manicure probably wont or hasnt lasted...as it will lift easily if there are gaps.
After numerous layers of coloured gel, each time under the UV Lamp....Its finished. And here are some photos. I have tried to show you from all angles...and I think they look completely natural.
The whole process took just over 1h 30minutes and whats great is that they are more or less completely dry once she has finished so no waiting around or trying not to knock them.
No strong smells or products and no extreme buffing to my nails at all.
Ill be keeping a diary of how they are doing, how long they last etc. Everyones nails grow at different speeds so they may need infills after 1 week, 2 or 3...it depends. It also depends on how heavy you are with your hands too.
Tuesday 16th November
Nails are perfect...absolotely loved them
Wednesday 17th NovemberDone general household chores, shower, wash hair...nails still in Perfect Condition!
Friday 19th November. Still in perfect condition...I cant beleive it as I am pretty heavy handed. Can see my nail very slightly starting to grow. But really pleased with them!
Tuesday 24th November. Exactly 1 week ago I had my nails done. The polish has lasted so well. You can see growth appearing more. But for me to have nail varnish last a whole week perfectly is amazing. Even if I dont keep the infills up I would definately consider having this done before going on holiday. I spend so much of my time painting my nails as Im quite heavy handed and dont normally use gloves. Very pleased so far.
Friday 27th / Saturday 28th November A couple of the nails have come off. They lift...I had like an air bubble that got bigger and then I just peeled it off. Id had quite a busy couple of days moving things etc but also my nails seemed to have grown really quickly. What was a complete surprise was the condition of my nail underneath. It was in better condition that before I had the bio sculpture done. I painted my natural nail the same colour and over the weekend you couldnt really tell the difference.
Monday 30th November. Today Joanna came to soak off the other nails. Because the next couple of weeks Im going to be doing a lot of cleaning I decided to have the bio sculpture removed and have my natural nails tidied up and painted. The strength of my nails was unbeleivable. When I had acrylics before, I remember my nails feeling really soft, weak and sensitive...this is compltely the opposite where they are longer and stronger.
Thursday 2nd November. This manicure has really last amazingly. I know its only Day 4 but I have been busy cleaning etc but they still look great and fell strong. Very very positive!
My Review of Bio Sculpture
I absolutely LOVED this product...honestly. It was so lovely having nice nails, perfectly polished for more than a week. My nails do seem to grow quite quickly and think that I would need to have a infill every 9 to 11 days. But some people have the bio sculpture on for 2 to 3 weeks without any infills... I have seen them! It really does depend on you, how hard you are on your hands and how quickly your nails grow. After having this product on, my nails are longer and stronger than when I started and for me that proves that this doesnt damage the nail. I will definately be having Bio Sculpture again! Its perfect for me too as I dont want longer nails...I just want stronger nails and nails that look nice for a while.
If you would like to have this done, Contact Joanna Hooper on 637 444 136 and if you have any questions at all shell be able to help you. Joanna is a mobile beauty therapist who will come to your home.
Quote Nueva Andalucia and get your first set of Bio Sculpture for just 35€ instead of 50€ (Limited Period)

Here is their website if you wish to call them.http://www.puenteromano.com/
There may be a new years eve party at the bull ring but its so quiet here in the winter, theres not normally much going on.

The Last Supper! Le Village
Last night we popped out for our "last supper" my dad left for UK this morning, so the last night of free babysitting. Couldnt help ourselves and went back to Small World. My husband wanted what I had the other day, Thai Laska with sea food. I had the pizza and they really are the best pizzas ever! Followed by the
Apple Crumble...yum yum. Even some of our friends are addicted to their pizzas and often get takeaways on the way home.
Still quite studenty with people strolling in with fags in their hand blowing their smoke everywhere whilst we were eating...I dont see this anywhere else...but the back blinds / area where people were climbing through the other day had been sealed up pretty well so they tried to get in but didnt succeed. The service was very good with waitresses checking everything was ok.
That whole area "Le Village" now has its only little leaflet with all the shops and services there. Theres Nightclub, supermarket, Hairdressers, Gym.

Scams on the Costa Del Sol - Solicitors to Help with Scams
If you get scammed by one of these holiday companies on the Costa Del Sol or have a problem with any other company....denounce them directly to the police and if necesary get a translator and pay for them to help you.
DO NOT USE any Solicitors that say they "Specialise "In Scams" have you lost money through Holiday, Time Share, Plastic Surgery......it maybe just another scam.

Why dont Spanish put Bags on the Floor
One day at someones house a friend picked up my bag and put it on the chair and said something...I didnt really take any notice.
But the other day at Larios I noticed in the restaurant that all the young girls went to get an extra chair to put all their bags on. And as you walked around you didnt see 1 bag on the floor.
Today I found out that its bad luck...the money will be taken. So there you have it!
There are lots of superstitions and many people are very supersticious here. Another is you must never lend / borrow salt. You must pay for it.
And one more is dont eat whilst walking in the street.

Nueva Andalucia No Buiding Licence - Marbella Corruption Still Continues
Theres lots of things that have happened over the past couple of months that remind us that the crisis is far from over. Restaurants that were and are pretty cheap that used to be packed with queues of people waiting to get in....now, you dont have to book or wait and hardly full.
The other day we went to Larios & Maria Zambrano...it was dead in there..normally very busy. Many of our friends left / leaving to head back to the UK to start over again. Its just been a funny old couple of months.
Then....the development where we used to live and now have holiday apartments, has been informed that apparently one phase isnt completely "legal" . So if you want to sell you cant...although people have done.
They say its down to the lawyers who represented these people....but how can what...40 differently lawyers all be wrong?
But this is now 7 years down the line....how can the Government do this when they have been very happy sending out IBI bills and Basura Bills every June & July for hundreds, thousands of Euros. If its not entirely legal then these people shouldnt have been paying IBI and all the other bills.
Whilst at the moment we are not directly affected (hopefully we wont be) it does affect us in the fact that this is still going on where we live and where we are bringing up our daughter. This is the mentality and we cannot change it. Its disgusting what has happened here and what continues to happen.

Bijou Bijou Marbella My Restauarant Review
After being told a couple of times about this little restaurant called Bijou Bijou in Marbella and then reading reviews on TripAdvisor we thought wed give it a go.
Its just off the Main Marbella Road so parking is best in the main carpark by the horse and carts.
Its a small restaurant inside and also has a little terrace out the back. It was a beautiful evening and with the outdoor heaters we chose outside.
Menu was great for me as it was small meaning I could make my mind up quite quickly. The starters were quite a good price ranging from 4€ to about 9€. For starters we chose Thai Fish Cakes and also Frois Gras. Both very nice.
Mains started around 11€ up to about 22€ I think. A range of Sea Food, Fish, Steak and Chicken. I chose the Fillet Steak and my husband had the Fish. Both very good. My fillet steak did look small and was a bit of an odd shape but was cooked and tasted well.
We werent going to go for a pudding, but couldnt help ourselves. Went for the Chocolate Fondant - sounded very tasty.
The plate came and it was just a lump of colapsed messy chocolate on the plate. Tasted great but presentation...well I think I have probably been watching too much Master Chef...but fondants / souffles are very hard to do and if you are going to do them they have to look like a fondant / souffle....If not Id take it off the menu and make sure I serve something I can do 100% of the time.
Service was great....didnt have to ask for anything. Quality of the food was very good. I loved the fact that the starters and main courses were a mixture of the same ingrediants...therefore you know its going to be fresh as its used all the time.
Ambience...we went Saturday in November....very quiet but think would be lovely with more people in the summer months.
2 Starters, 2 Mains, 1 Pudding, Water, Wine, Gin & Tonic I think the bill was just under 70€.
Would I go again? Yes
Would I recommend? yes

Small World Cafe
Small World Cafe didnt start off in my good books when it came to customer service....but because of the food it keeps making us return.
As we have built in baby sitter, we popped out last night for something to eat...I really fancied something tasty, soupy, wintery.
I asked the waitress if they had soup, she said no but the nearest thing was this Thai Laska Dish. Im not normally very daring when eating out but obviously something came over me and I ordered it.
My husband order a pizza as they are truely the best pizzas you may well ever eat.
Food came....he took one spoonful and was hooked....golloped down his pizza and most of my meal too. It was delicious. It was vegetables (carrots and cucumber) with chicken and bean shoots in a coconut thai sauce...like a broth. A little spicy but nice...where you ate it and it warmed the back of your throat and then moved onto clearing your ears...sounds mad I know. It was addictively delicious. I dont do spicy but this was delicious.
Desert....the warm chocolate brownie and chocolate sauce...delicious. The food is bloddy excellent in there and the prices are good too.
Theres still something I dont like about it.....I feels very studenty and they stand and hang around alot. People walking around smoking with their jeans under their bums walking like they have Pooped themselves to keep their jeans up. Last night the students from the college were entering via the back of the restaurant through the blinds and it just seems messy. Many of them popping in to grab some fags from the machine.
So if you want good food in a very very relaxed atmosphere....this is a really good place. If you want fine dining...dont bother.

Spejos Manicure....My Review
Does Manicura have the same meaning as Manicure?
Today we went to San Pedro Market and then for a wander around San Pedro As always...strolling past Spejos...I get curious, curious as to if they are any good in there at cutting, colouring manicure and pedicure. Sod it...I thought, 10euros for a Manicure...so I took the opportunity of having my daughters grandad around and took 30 minutes for myself.
I entered Spejos and was able to have a manicure straight away. Used to be 7€ now 10€ and they did say if I wanted French it would be 2€uros more.
The Manicure Starts...
I sit down and notice that thers no real work space with labeled products or tools. She gets out this grotty that was once the colour clear Clinique Make up bag....one of those freebies. Its filled with manicure metal things that all looked abit mankey. A nail file comes out, infact its the only thing that represents a file in her once clear free Clinique Makeup Bag. Its definately seen better days. She starts to file my nails. I beleive that really you should only file in 1 direction as otherwise it weakens the nail (not 100% on that fact)..she filed like mad each and every direction.
Then the Soaking and....
Once filed they were then soaked for a few minutes...dried and then filed again with this same taty old emery board. She even tried to buff the top and sides of my nail with the emery board!
Now normally time to clean under the nail if it hadnt already taken place......Im waiting and waiting...
So, filed, soaked, filed again and now time for getting rid of that dead skin...
The Skin Remover Object
She must have had such good eyes as I could only see a few bits of dead skin hanging around...she found dead skin everywhere and removed practically every bit of skin around every single nail.
The Cuticle Remover...shaking the bottle vigourously back and forth, god forbid she should leave a drop in there....Poured onto my nails like pouring ketchup over chips. Running all down my nails onto the towel...no wonder she has none left. No massaging into the nail bed....nope its time for the long curved cuticle remover object to appear from the once the colour clear free Clinique Make up bag. She manages to push all the cuticles back and scratch my nails at the same time.
The Massage
Come on with the massage....ah my favourite bit...cream from a bottle that had gunk all around the top, a huge bottle about 1 litre that had probably been sitting there years...quite nice massage all of 30 seconds.
Choosing the Colour
Now the fun bit...I had a selection of pre painted nail colours to choose from...I really wanted purple, but thought...I better go O´Natural as if its no good it wont show up as bad and I can go over it with my colours.....what a great choice / fab idea of mine!!!
Base Coat...Once again I had the dregs of the bottle, gunky...loaded on not only my nail but all over my cuticle, then with her free hand cleaning my nails up with her own nail....actually every single nail she had to clean up and this was just the base coat.
The Nail Polish
Now time for the clear colour...omg, she didnt do one nail without getting it all on the skin. Come on girl, shake, take out the brush and wipe the excess on the top of the bottle....no!!! Out the bottle straight on my nail and dripping everywhere....once again not one nail that she didnt clean up as she went along. I was asked if i wanted a second coat as it would make the colour darker........I passed and just asked for some top coat. Well least my new layer of skin looked nice and shiny. Oh and the cleaning under the nail never happened.
It was an experience and Im pleased my curiosity is now cured. Unbeleivably it came out looking ok, not perfect but better than when I went in.
Spejos is actually quite a great business and today I learn how it does things so cheap. The hairdressing have no towels, they have these disposable creations. No aprons or covers...disposables. So noone to employ to collect, clean, dry etc. The chairs and tables are all basic, no up and down or fancy things. No appointments so no need for a receptionist.
Final Thought!
A few years ago I went to a Christmas Fair where some 13 / 14 year olds were doing mini manicures...these kids had better technique.
My daughter 6 years old can actually paint my nails better in 3 single strokes.
I can actually do a manicure better.
Would I go again???? Probably not...but I never say never

Second Hand Car Seats Group 1, 2, 3 Marbella
I have this brilliant Car Seat sitting downstairs taking up space. Its a pre natal car seat that is from 9 months to 7 years....as you remove the straps and then use the seat belt.
Its a great car seat as it moves allowing baby / toddler to sleep well without falling forward.
It does need a bit of a scrub but all in good working order and I even found the instructions. I would never put this on here if I thought it was broken in any way at all! Just needs new shoulder straps.
New it was about 200€uros!!! Very easy to put into the car too.
If you have 2 cars and need a second child seat...could be perfect. Or if always collecting another child from school. Like me often we always pick up another kid and I always have a spare booster in the car.
Reasonable offers!
Kids Clothes & Shoes for 7 Year olds
Is anyone else experiencing the same problem.....
My daughter just seems to grow every day....Im struggling to keep up with what fits and what doesnt.
Hennes...I like Hennes clothes and the clothes are young and fun...except. My daughter who is nearly 7 only just fits in the 7 to 8 year old tops. The bottoms however, she cannot get into. The young kids only seem to go up to 7 to 8. Then it stops and goes to the big girls which is too grown up and or too big. I cannot find anything in H&M that fits.
Then shoes...Shoes for my daughter are really hard to buy here. They just dont seem to fit, too narrow at the front plus I dont really like the shoes here.So tonight I thought Id look at Clarks as these do normally fit her well and I like good quality shoes...many of the shoes only go up to a 12.
Looking at tracksuits today for her I wanted to get a Nike or Adidas...biggest was 7 to 8 and then seemed to start from 12 to 14.
I bought a pair of Geox boots from El Corte Ingles for her and they fit great, but really needed some ankle boots or shoes....I ended up falling in love with 2 pairs from ASOS....if they dont fit, Ill sell them on here! Size 13!
Zara sizes are mad....she has denium shorts age 4 to 5 which fit brilliantly whilst Dresses 7 to 8 are huge, 4to 5 are too small and they dont always do a 6 to 7. Okaidi she seems to be an age 10....I just cannot beleive how much the sizes change. I dont really like shopping at the best of times let alone when I cannot find anything to fit

Picassos Puerto Banus - introduce Kids Menu
Funny old day today as it was one of those days people just didnt know if things were going to be open or not.
Anyway the whole of Puerto Banus was open and we went for lunch at Picassos.
They have introduced a kids menu...a main course and ice cream for 5.95€ Main course of certain pizza & pasta or hamburgers...excluding drinks. Great move by them as they also give colouring too. The waiters are so good with the kids.
Definately really good value..although was a bit shocked that a portion of chips was 4.50€! Seems quite a lot for a bowl of chips which is about 2 potatoes. Most restaurants chips are about 2.50€
They also have Picassos New Years Eve at 119€
