Nermans Restaurant Marbella - Nermans

Yesterday...naughty naughty we went out for lunch again....well we do like to draw the birthdays out a bit.  We were starving and quickly went to Nermans, where Ogilvy and Mailer used to be.

Straight away had some delicious bread with Olive Oil and Balsamic.  Nice choice of starters, mains and desserts.

I had the Courgette Soup, which was very nice, but did have some "bits in"....think like hard herbs.  Hubby had the mushrooms in some creamy paprika sauce....omg delicious.

Mains I had the minute steak with little hassleback potatoes and he had the chicken "indian" flavour.

We werent going to do the dessert...if Im honest....as I always am here...they didnt really appeal to me.  Fruit, cheese or a courgette cake which was like a carrot cake.

But we took the courgette cake between us and it was very very good.  Really like carrot cake, it was yummy.

2 course is 12€, 3 course 15€.  I think we had 1 water and 1 bear and the bill was about 31€uros or something.

We didnt eat again either!

Very very nice setting, good food, very good price.

Mc Cafe Review Marbella - MC Cafe

Monday, we went out for a special lunch as it was the big mans birthday.  He has thing thing about going to MC Cafe...personally I like my cheap menu del dias....but his birthday his choice.

Entering they had a menu del dia, but literally 1 starter, 1 main and 1 dessert...we sat had the main menu.  I went back in for the menu del dia sheet and it wasnt there.  I was told that they will do that later!!!  It was already about 1.40....how much later?  I thought that was a bit strange.

Anyway, bread and tapenade came...very nice.  I didnt really know what to have so when in doubt i went for the burger.

It came and came practically raw, the waitress didnt ask me how i wanted it done.  Id already eaten some of it when another person came and asked if everything was ok.....i wasnt going to but then decided to say...."actually no...this is rare and I wasnt asked how I wanted it cooked".

They took it back no problem and prepared another, but personally that wouldnt and shouldnt have happened....Marbella  Club is "The Hotel" and waiters / waitresses should be asking the question "how would you like that".

Its a nice atmosphere, even though actually you are near the main road and practically in the car park...somehow its still a nice place.  We had a wander around the gardens that are beautiful and a stunning place for a "Party or Wedding" maybe but I think theres other places I prefer for lunch.

Are Moths feeling The Recession?

Lately, I am finding tiny holes in everything.  I keep saying its Moths, he keeps shouting to me, "Jo they dont go for cheap crap that you buy, they go for Wool and Silk"

Anyone else experiencing it? Could moths be affected by The Crisis and now be getting a bit picky and nibbling on viscose and polyester.

Kids Language School Nueva Andalucia Marbella

For a few days this week my daughter has been trying out the new Language School in Los Naranjos by the new Mercadona.

She is very shy normally and doesnt really enjoy much out of school but yesterday she was a little nervous going in but came out good.  She even looked forward to going there this morning and even agreed with me that maybe she should start going there for help with her Spanish Homework.  SHes had a lot of fun, playing games, arts and crafts, speaking Spanish and for a couple of hours a day allowed me to get on with my work.

Age 7 here kids seem to get so much homework.  Whilst we can do it fine, I dont have the knowledge or experience like teachers to talk about the work and get her talking about it.

One happy little girl who wants to go back...I think thats enough said.

For more information call 951 082323

If you are looking for some great books for kids to read, I have always used these kids bilingual books. Great for adults to learn too

La Cañada Changes

Whats going on upstairs La Cañada near Marks & Spencers?

Chicco has moved down to where Imperial used to be.  Now Benetton and Physo Shoes are moving further along to.  Could M&S be expanding maybe?  All seems a little strange that they are all moving, or maybe my imagaination has run away with itself.

Play Area Marina Banus

In Marina Banus they now have a soft play area within a shop.  Next to Imaginarium is theres a lovely small colourful play area for little ones.  Its not monitored so you do have to stay with your kids....but great for mums who want to have a wander and the dads can sit and watch.

I feel that finally Puerto Banus is realising they need more for kids.

So in Puerto Banus there is the play area for little ones in Marina Banus and also the New Soft Play Area / Creche in El Corte Ingles Sotano 1

Claires Puerto Banus - Clairs Accessories Marina Banus

I dont recall the last time I went to Marina Banus.  I popped into day and was a little surprised to see a shop not owned by the Mr Zara Group.

Yes Claires Accessories has opened up as you enter on the right.  I love Claires as theres always a present big and little girls.

Pizza Expreess Puerto Banus Closed?

Ok, so January when I passed by Pizza Express Puerto Banus I thought....not a bad move...close whilst no one here.

BUt now its seaman santa and they are still closed....I think its gone completely.

ANyone know anything different?

La Moraga Puerto Banus

Just me and my man today as my daughter spent the day with her best friend...it was so strange walking around without her.

We thought we would have a bite to eat out but really didn't know where to go. But in the end decided on La Moraga, simply as it just opened and we could actually get a table.

Sat at the bar, very nice and busy and we did feel we were in a city. Its got a great atmosphere. We ordered the cod fritters and potato salad followed by the beef burger and the fish burger.

Cod Fritters...the very first time we ate them they were amazing, they almost melted in your mouth. The next time we went they were bloody frozen. Today...they were ok, but not how they were that very first time. Potato was ok. Burgers...well they were sitting on the side for a while and then finally the waitress picked them up and then got talking to someone for a good couple of minutes holding them in her hand. They finally got to us and yes...were cold. I sent them back only for them to be warmed up...not cooked new and they still weren't hot.

Apple Pie was nice at the end.

The food coming out does look amazing but sometimes the actual flavours just are not there. Its such a shame.

Celebrities in Marbella - Papparazzi in Marbella

A friend of mine works in the UK for a biggish company that buy and sell photos.  Ive heard a lot of gossip before, said "no way" and a few weeks later its in the news.

Photos of Celebrities, The Famous and these Reality Tv Personalities.  Depending on whats happening in the news these photos can be worth money.    Even a Z listers could earn you a few quid.

Personally, how ever much I would love to take pictures of the famous in Marbella and earn some money..I find it difficult.  Im imposing on their privacy...obviously not the z listers that just want to be photographed.

So have your camera handy but becareful who you show your pictures too....they could earn you a few quid.

Ive Lost My Sunglasses -

I really really peed off as I seem to have lost my sun glasses finally.  Normally the scream out "wheres my sunglasses" is over within 2 secs whilst they appear in some strange place that I left them.

But this has now lasted more than a week.  They are brown Ray Bans and they have a very distinctive mark........the ear part has been chewed by my pug.

I find sunglasses soooo hard to buy as they never fit, except this pair...if you have come across them email me.

Mil Milagros Marbella

On Saturday we went to Mil Milagros on the Golden Mile.  It was a little bit of a treat lunch.  Because the food is good but rich we now know to share everything.  But actually we share food nearly all the time in restaurants now.

We took the Churros de Bacalao and  the Baby Sausage Caserole first followed by the ox tail lasagne.  Now this was really rich and only a small portion but no way someone could finish it alone.  For desert we shared a merange thing.  Water, beer and Americano plus the cover charge of bread and oil @ 2€uros per person :( bill was 53€uros.

For us its food that I would never bother cooking and its nice eating stuff you would never cook at home.  Im terrible for my steak and chips.

El Corte Ingles Soft Play Area - El Corte Ingles Creche Puerto Banus

Better late than never, El Corte Ingles finally have an area where you can leave kids to play any from half an hour.

They have had their creche area on the 4th floor for a while now but thats only open at weekends.  Now on the Sotano 1 where all the toys are there is a soft play area which is really well closed in without feeling like you are closed in...so if you are worried about safety....this really is quite good.

Just past the toys infront of the Post Office is where this soft play area is with a basket ball area too.  There is also a huge Haribo Sweet Section too.

I quickly asked the prices....they wanted 3€uros for the first half hour and 2€uros thereafter...so I guess around 5€uros per hour.

Bus Services from Malaga Airport to San Pedro / Estepona

Hi Jo,

Many thanks for your excellent newsletter which we read with interest. Can you possibly help us  please or point us towards another information source.

It has been suggested to us that there is more than one operator offering a  direct bus service between Marbella and Malaga Airport.

We have always used Portillo Avanza but often find that despite our best plans  -  on our way out from the UK  we miss a reasonable connection and have to wait around for the next scheduled service for well over an hour. This is either because of a delayed departure or additional time  getting through the airport /  waiting for bags to come through at Malaga.

Last time we were waiting , someone told us of another service which runs direct to Marbella Bus Station but  which possibly runs beyond there  to Neuvo Andulucia / San Pedro. Do you have any knowledge of such a service or know who we might approach to find out ?

Best wishes
