Hollister Marbella España - Hollister La Cañada Centro Comercial Marbella


Ok, así que me enteré esta mañana por algunas preguntas que se abre en el nuevo espacio grande al lado de M & S en La Cañada de Marbella el centro comercial.

Algunas personas aquí se van a ir absolutamente loco cuando se enteran de que es.....

Su Hollister ... parte de Abercrombie & Fitch .... al parecer. Ahora siempre digo aparentemente como cualquier cosa puede pasar aquí en Marbella.

Personalmente, Hollister es tooooo oscuro para mí. Entro y caminar en línea recta de nuevo .... tal vez el hecho de que siempre estoy en un apuro cuando estoy allí, en Londres, pero yo simplemente no lo entiendo. Usted no puede ver nada en ese país.

No estoy muy seguro cuando su apertura, pero están trabajando lejos en el espacio.

Ok, so I found out this morning by asking a few questions who is opening up in the new big space next to M&S Marbella in La Cañada Shopping Centre.

Some people here are going to go absolutely mad when they find out who it is.....

Its Hollister...part of Abercrombie & Fitch....apparently.  Now I always say apparently as anything can happen
here in Marbella.

Personally, Hollister is tooooo dark for me.  I walk in and walk straight out again....maybe the fact that Im always in a rush when Im there in London, but I just dont get it.  You cant see a thing in there.

Not too sure when its opening, but they are working away in the space.

Duran Duran Estepona / Duran Duran Marbella

Im not too sure if I heard right, but Im pretty sure that Duran Duran will be doing a concert in Estepona....bit of a strange place...but yes, will be playing sometime in August.

I wasnt paying much attention as there was the cutest little baby next to us at the George Benson Concert who was bouncing away to the music...he was so cute.

The atmosphere tonight at the George Benson concert was brillinat.  Everyone on really good form.  I did start getting a little nervous before going thinking....I might find it a bit boring, I only know a few songs...but it was one of those artists where you knew so many more.

There was a lot of instumental which personally I found a bit borning...only cause I like to sing and he did seem to finish pretty quick...but a great night out.

I have to say that Tom Jones was 

ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!!!

For the Earth Wind and Fire Concert the other day it was really busy at 8pm all around the Puente Romano.  But yesterday was really quiet as it was numbered seating so noone was in a rush...like us as we didnt get there till nearly 9pm.

For us, seating was easy, we knew exactly where we were sitting from the plan but for about the other 2,498 people, well it was a bit caotic!

By 10pm there were still loads of empty seats, people pissed out of their heads, couples that had fallen out and arguing and a woman so drunk she literally fell down the stairs behind us.    Then just our luck, we have people standing right behind us who were also drunk and that annoying drunk where they didnt stop bloddy talking.

Then at 10.20pm a man comes on stage and plays the guitar and a couple of minutes later Tom Jones walks on.  All the lights go out, people still trying to come in, seats unfilled...but OMG Tom Jones was on Stage and boy did he fill it with that voice of his.

Gradually the whole band came on and from start to finish was absolutely fantastic.  The man is just amazing and his voice and the songs, one after the other after the other.

There were quite a few at the begining that I didnt know but it didnt matter.  The guy is a proper showman.  Then he started singing all the popular ones and everyone was up dancing, the atmosphere was absolutely brilliant....especially when the drunks behind us moved down to annoy some other people.

Watching Tom Jones last night with the band, the stage and the lighting, the voice....one of the best concerts Ive been too. ....I regret not going to see Jamie Cullum and Jamiroquai



Tonight I am sooooooo excited....infact all of us are very excited that the rumour of Tom Jones playing in Marbella is actually reality.

Well, Im hoping it is.  On the doors of the George Benson Concert Tonight (which was really good) there were posters saying Tom Jones August 18th....

I hope this is true as this will be a brilliant concert!  Even thinking of splashing out and getting a table for a group. 

Im sure tickets will be available at El Corte Ingles when they are released.

Its confirmed that Apple are coming to Marbella and they are apparently going to be moving into the space where Habitat are at the moment.

Habitat say they are moving and heard this will be at the front of the centre near Mango, maybe taking the old Casa Shop although this does look a bit small.

Upstairs however next to MandS many of the shops have moved down and this space is absolutely huge...I was shocked when I saw it....so I wonder who is going in here??

Anyone know?

Having been sent a link from a lovely fellow tweeter about Habitat closing stores...I wouldnt be surprised if Habitat goes altogether.

Its just not busy enough.  When it first opened there were a number of English Staff  and a English  Woman in Charge....this was brilliant and the shop was busy...we bought our whole house from Habitat just because it was more our style.  But having english speaking staff was brilliant for many of the people on the Costa Del Sol...its familiarity.


But then all the English Staff were gone and we never felt the shop was the same again.

New Sand along Marbella Front

Went for a walk along the Marbella Front this morning to get the old bones moving abit.  Still cant walk too far or fast since the accident but so nice getting back to a little excercise.

Lots of new sand has been placed between Puente Romano and the Marbella Club.

Was looking very nice.

Prosegur Security Spain - Yearly Increase

I often feel that I dont take enough time looking through my bank statements, but obviously I do as yesterday I saw that our month fee with Prosegur was over 50€.  

Last month and the previous year this was 38.18€.  This  is an increase of 30%!

So, this morning I am on the case and told them that I wish to cancel the policy....lets see what they say.

Saudi Royal Wedding Marbella

Just reading in the Sur in English that there is going to be a Saudi Royal Wedding right here in Marbella.  How exciting and brilliant for the economy.

The Saudi Royal Wedding is going to take place on Jly 2nd and probably go on celebrating for several days.  So if you have been trying to book into the one of the top hotels along the Golden Mile and they are booked, well its probably been taken by one of the guests.

Cafe Next to La Maestranza Back Open

The Cafe that was next to the Chinese Bazaar in Nueva Andalucia is now back open as if it never closed down, but without a name.

Never seen so many places opening, closing, refurbishing in my life.

But great to have it there for the summer.

West Indies Cafe Centro Plaza Nueva Andalucia

Last week we went to the West Indies Cafe for Menu Del Dia in Centro Plaza.  Never been there before.

Menu del Dia is a drink, main course and then either coffee or icecream.  We both went for the chicken curry, rice and salad....although I kept changing my mind and the guy thought I was mad as I kept changing my mind.  Im not good at choosing food if I cant see it written down...strange I know!

But the chicken curry came and it was really good.  Service was good.  Walked out of there stuffed even though I only had 1 main course.  8.50€pp

Would definately recommend.

Dentist Nueva Andalucia - English Dentists Marbella

Yesterday I finally took my daughter to the dentist for a check up.  Its so wonderful to walk out of there not having spent loads of money or being told you need a mouthful of fillings.

The Spanish and British way when it comes to dental are very different like many things.  Whose right and whose wrong?  Neither...its just their ways.  .For me I prefer to go the British Route.  I have been to 3 Spanish Dentists here and had many problems.  Many due to the fact that my teeth are very sensitive.  They also do fillings as soon as there is a little hole.  Whilst the British way is to leave it a while.

Lately I have heard that little girls age 7 are wearing braces and this is quite a Spanish Practice.  To me, it sounds too early, but it could also be for the reason of  thumb sucking.  Luckily enough my daughter may well be one of those annoying people who wont need a brace.

Whilst there I popped on the chair and was happy with the news, although I was told that where I still have pain and discomfort in my jaw from my accident a few weeks ago, this could take quite a few more months to heal.

Ayuntamiento Summer Swimming School

There are summer swimming clubs in Nueva Andalucia and also Marbella at the municipal swimming pools.  They are every 45 minutes for 45 minutes from 10am till 1 at Marbella and 10 until about 1245 in Nueva Andalucia.

For 2 weeks its just 20€uros if you have empadron and 40€ without.    If you are interested best to pop along and take all the usual paperwork along.

Runs from 4th July until 29th August

Breast Feeding Lounge El Corte Ingles, Puerto Banus

El Corte Ingles are really working hard to make the shopping a better experience.  They´re refund policy is much easier, they have staff that speak many languages now, they have put the kids play area in on Sotano 1 and now on the first floor they have a room where mothers can go and breastfeed.

Its great to see some positive changes.  Also do make sure you sign up for your Whats Hot Card.  Available for foreign residents.  There are some really good offers from free tickets to spas and selwo to free parking for the month.

Que Cara! What Cheek!

Well I tell you, there are quite a few people in Marbella, as Im sure there are all over the world,  that I wonder how they show their face and pretend that everything is great!  How they even show their face!

Things never cease to amaze me.

People that live on urbanisations, dont pay and never pay service charge, yet use all the communal facilities.  Even worse when some of these people are related to Ex Mayors.

Then people that swan around and give the impression of being rather flash with the cash, designer everything, yet dont seem to do much workwise....how can they afford that?  Well they probably dont pay their rent and never have....yes quite a common thing here in Spain, they pay the first month and then decide they are paying again.

Yes, its quite amazing what goes on here and the impressions that people give off and the other people that are taken in by these people.

Here, I find people really do go on impressions and there are the people that like to look the part but sure arent.

Whilst there are some very flashy wealthy people here,  I have learnt that many of the flashy ones with the fancy clothes etc are generally the ones that have sweet FA.

I have learnt Spanish since Ive lived here...sitting in Classrooms, learning lots of grammer, but you do need to get out there and just speak, and knowing that if you say something wrong you will be corrected, otherwise you never learn.

Club De Conversation meet in different places in Marbella, the teacher proposes an article from a review or a magazine about politics, economy, culture,  society.... and then we have one hour together speaking in Spanish, having fun and developing (unconsciously) the specific terminology of the article we spoke about!

Alegria Malaga - Cirque du Soliel Malaga

Finally Cirque du Soliel has come back to Malaga.  The last time they were here was over 3 years ago when my daughter was 4 and she just sat there with her mouth open wide, basically gobsmacked at what was happening.  She loved it, absolutely loved it.

Yesterday I was about to book tickets for Seville in October and then found they were in Malaga, although I have to wait 2 more months....till December.

So I booked my tickets at El Corte Ingles El Capricho yesterday, its not cheap at 180€uros but its an amazing show and this will be my 4th time and Im never bored of it.

It some of the best acrobats, gymnasts, dancers in the world and everyone must go see it at least once.

Por último Cirque du Soleil ha vuelto a Málaga. La última vez que estuvimos aquí fue más de 3 años atrás, cuando mi hija tenía 4.  A ella le encantó, me encantó.

Ayer estuve a punto de reservar entradas para Sevilla en Octubre y luego descubrieron que se encontraban en Málaga, aunque tengo que esperar 2 meses más .... hasta Diciembre.

Así que reservé mis entradas en El Corte Inglés de El Capricho de ayer, no es barato a 180 € uros, pero es un espectáculo asombroso y este será mi cuarto y nunca estoy aburrido de ella.

Es uno de los mejores acróbatas, gimnastas, bailarines en el mundo y todos deben ir a verla al menos una vez.
