I am shocked that over the past few years Im still yet to find a gymnastics class or teacher in the Marbella Area.
The main classes are with the Ayuntamiento....but this is full with a very long waiting list judging by the queues this morning.
My daughter is 7 and I know by her age I was already on level 2 gymnastics starting to learn back flips. This was during school times, yet here they dont do anything like this in the school.
I know a couple of other little girls that also would like to do gymnastics about 7 / 8 years old, beginners.
If you know of a class or if you are a teacher please get in touch and hopefully can put a group together.

Gluten Free Pizzas Mercadona - Gluten Free in Marbella
Having been talking about Gluten with friends at the weekend, I noticed the other day that Mercadona are advertising Gluten Free Pizzas in their freezer range.
If you or your children have intolerances to gluten and you are living in Marbella you need to know where you can buy all your food.
Mercadona do have a selection of foods, cereals now too. There is a health shop in Nueva Andalucia and also I think Al Campo have a good selection.
If you have kids that just dont look well, loosing weight, vomiting, having bad stomachs, tired and maybe playing up....do think about Gluten! Its quite incredible what this substance can do to ones body.

The Crisis & The Government in Marbella
Ive started college again....I am always learning the language, which I do beleive is important here. I hear people say, oh I dont need it...but its nice to know and to be able to chat away.
Ive always wondered how the college manages to keep going. Its pretty cheap and they teach 5 Languages there and whilst there are quite a number of students..... I am not a mathematician but I can work out roughly how much they get per class....and when you take out teachers wages, rent, administration, bills etc....there isnt much left if anything.
So when Ive mentioned this, people including the OH say...but its supported by the government....
I understand that completely....except there is one incy tiny weeny little problem.
The government have NO money.
Today we were asked for a small donation towards photocopies, paper etc...and explaining that basically the college is %&%$$&&& and has no money

Everyones talking about this new Adventure Park that has opened up in Elviria, Marbella. Its called Aventura Amazonia and they have 2 already in Madrid, 1 in Pirineos, Granada and now Marbella.
Its a bit hard to explain as I havent been there yet, but from people that have been, its a huge adventure park with loads of activities for kids & adults from 6 years old upwards.
Great place for schools and also companies doing team building. You should book it says on the website as you have up to 3 hours in the park. Everything will be according to your age, height and fitness.

Paloma Park Benalmadena
I have written about Paloma Park before but as we were there yesterday, I thought Id mention it again. Its a wonderful large park in Benalmadena right by Selwo Marina. There are a few cafes all around with play areas, animals and rabbits & chickens running around everywhere.
Yesterday there were numerous magicians and entertainers around which kept the kids amused.
Its a beautiful large park where you can take a picnic and spend the whole day there where the kids can play and the adults can chill.

Getting Papers in Spain for South Americans
I was asked today if I knew the answer to this question about getting legal papers for South Americans.
My friend has a South American girl that cleans for her and she pays cash like everyone. The cleaner has been trying to get papers and before you needed to have a offer of contract to get your legal papers.
Now apparently this has changed and now they just need a signature and NIE Number of where they work and how many hours from the Employer.
But what effect does this have on the Employer? If any?
Please leave your comments if you know.
If you are moving to Spain I definately recommend getting a Guide to the Law in Spain book.

The Maid not The Mum
I have come to realise that I think other people in our road think Im the maid and not the mum. Im always out walking the dog, watching my daughter on her bike, clearing out the garage & scrubbing something. Some of the neighbours just arent very... well...warm or even polite. They could just be rude, maybe its because Im English, but I actually think its because they think I am the Maid.
Adult Relaxation Marbella
There seems to be more and more of these "Places" opening up.
We often take the road around the back of Marbella passing by Milady Palace. Its in the middle of nowhere particular yet there are always cars outside, at all times of the day. I dont think they have been affected by the crisis. Infact maybe they are better off...the more stress of the crisis - the more relaxation needed.
Then there is a place called Casa Masa that advertise heavily on google. I just had a look at the website and its so clever the way its worded as a relaxation health spa. If you were really naive you could end up in the very wrong place.
As you drive down the Golden Mile there is a sign with just "Villa Wala"...thats it! Its like all these places have their own very silent language.
Then you have the back of The Sur In English....some of the adverts are getting worse and longer and longer. Im shocked that such a good paper even allows this to take up so much space.
I find it a very interesting area....not one I want to get into at all...but curious....like many of others I have spoken too

Jekyll & Hydes in Marbella
So last night was my excercise night and I had noone to look after my daughter, I took her along. Its dancing and Id told the teacher that I may need to bring her along and she was more than happy. Rather me go than not.
So last night we get to the class and there are a group of new Spanish women that seem to want to change the way the class is done and want instructions....its not like that...you just watch and copy and eventually get it.
Then I heard one ask the teacher if kids are a regular thing...meaning she didnt want my daughter there. The teacher said....they are welcome of course.
What I find funny is that kids are out all the time, very late, even on school nights. In restaurants, cafes, bars....which we love. Yet they didnt want my daughter in a fun dance class at 7pm. Yet, when some other Spanish ladies came, with their kids....didnt seem to have a problem and even spoke to the kids and said how good they were at the end....not to me or to my daughter...which my 7 year old clocked onto straight away. There are no flies on her!
I love living here (at the moment!!!) but sometimes I just dont get the people. Such Jekyll & Hydes. Your best friend when they want to learn English.
The only difference was that we were English...Ill leave it there.

TGI Fridays Puerto Banus Closed? Whats Happened To TGI¨S Puerto Banus
Today wandering around Puerto Banus whilst my daughter was in the Cinema with her dad watching their favourite....Phineas & Ferb I was rather shocked to see that TGI Fridays seems to have gone. There are no signs saying closed for refurbishment or anything. Its just closed and looking derilict already.
Also Mango has closed....I noticed the other day a Se Alquiler sign on their premises so had a premonition they may be going.
Anyone know? Is maybe Mango opening a really big store where TGI is? Or Is TGI being refurbed?

Which school is the best in Marbella?
Finally this week my daughter started back at school. I say finally but actually I felt rather lost without her after spending practically everyday together. Before too long she will be wanting to be out with her friends hanging around, so I try and treasure every moment I possibly can.
So, back to school and what a buzz was in the playground. Ive never seen kids so happy to be back to school...they are obviously doing something right.
September is a funny time as you never know who is going to be there and who has left. Some people are pretty open that they are leaving...others...well they dont like to say for whatever reason....and living in Marbella...there are other reasons people leave quietly...very quietly!
Theres been alot of movement with a couple of kids leaving, but new ones to replace, so there are people moving here to Marbella. Some kids have left to go back to the UK or home country whilst others have left to go to either Spanish State Schools or the other International Schools.
So which school is the best? You know what....I dont know. There are kids that have left EIC which was said to be the best for UK Education to go to Swans. There are kids that have left Swans this year to go to Mayfair, Aloha or EIC. Kids from Laude moved to Swans.
Schools are a really personal choice and for me, whilst my daughters happy, Im happy. Yes I still have a moan, I think there is a major lack of communication and it does feel its money money money. Its a business at the end of the day.
But every school has its positives and negatives and everyone has a moan and unhappy at some point.
If you are choosing a school, go see them, hang around in the morning and in the afternoon, see if you like the atmosphere.Check exam results and most important how do you feel when you walk in that school!
